“It’s a cashmiracle!” -Carrie Bradshaw referring to a cashmere scarf. Sex and The City Season 2, Episode 2.
Cashmiracle: a single word to embody the miracles of cashmere
One way I like to stay cozy while away from home is to carry a chic oversized cashmere travel scarf blanket (or another soft travel pashmina if cashmere is out of the budget, but come on honey, you’re worth it. I snagged this (Recycled!) one at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this year!)
A cashmere travel scarf is a great tool for staying comfy and polished on the plane or train.
It also doubles as a luxurious swaddle while lounging or padding around in a cold hotel room.
I can’t count the times my cashmere travel scarf has served me well on freezing planes and waiting for airport taxis in the snow. I also appreciate the protective warm hug effect it has on my mental state in stressful situations like long customs lines or waiting out a delayed flight.
It can also be incredibly useful when my hotel room turns out to be less-than-lux, doubling as a warm cozy layer when the duvet on the bed can’t be trusted.
I also typically pack a light silky robe (mine all happen to be kimono style. It’s a MOOD) and a lightweight pair of slippers to slink into. These are useful in the morning before I’m dressed, in the evening after I’ve showered, or when I need to answer the door for room service without shocking the hotel staff with an eyeful of my goodies.
The thin nature of a satin robe takes virtually no space or weight in my luggage and provides maximum softness against my skin.
I’ll even spritz my robe and scarf with a little bit of my perfume for an added level of luxury and a familiar scent. It typically lasts on the fabric for days!
Granted, many higher-end hotels provide robes and slippers which are (we hope) washed (robes) or replaced (slippers) between uses. Check the hotel’s website to decide if you will want to use the hotel’s loungewear or bring your own.
